Certificate Program Description

This course instructs students on the developmental stages of children from birth through early adolescence .The student will receive hands-on training, while assisting teachers in infant, toddler, preschool programs, elementary schools, and special education programs. Students will be instructed in appropriate practices, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, career preparation, and in early/elementary education.

Pre-requisite: Pass back ground check (within the first five days of school), Tuberculosis: A negative TB skin test within three months of the beginning of the course, or a negative chest x-ray for positive skin tests.  Live scan (fingerprint) clearance with-in 3 months. 

Technology Requirements: Flash Drive.  Required Supplies: 3 ring binder, tab dividers, highlighters, pens/pencils.

 

Career Outcomes

Students who successfully complete 795 hours of classroom instruction and 105 hours of Lab with the grade of 70% or better, and obtain a CPR/First Aid Certification are eligible for employment in the following industries: Family Day Care, Preschool, before and after school programs and Head Start. 

 

Admission Requirements

1.  Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.

2.  Pass a criminal background check.
