Description:
2/05/2002
These new pictures and mpg movies
show the students placing concrete at the garage
slab as well as the house footings. In all the
students placed 40 yards of concrete and learned
techniques in pouring, moving and finishing concrete.
After the concrete was poured in the garage, each
student was given an opportunity to help trowel
a finish on the surface. It was a hard days work
for he students, but each left with a sense of
accomplishment. The project is starting to take
form.
1/31/2002
These photos show students working
on preparing the footings of the house and the
slab of the garage for concrete. Students are
tying steel and grading the garage slab. Also,
the students are putting the finishing touches
on the underground waste piping. At this stage
of the project students are learning about the
hidden aspects of construction. They are learning
how to read the plans, measure, work with fractions
as well as gaining an understanding of the structural
aspects of a building.
