PARTNERSHIP BUILDS HOMES IN AZUSA
GENERAL INFORMATION
The project is the sixth house
built by students.
Students: 90% are high school students.
During the day about 50 to 60 students work
on the project.
Class: "Introduction
to Construction Trades."
It operates in three two hour blocks (A,B &
C Sections). The unique thing about this house
is that it is being built as an energy efficient
house utilizing a variety of energy saving techniques.
Partnership: ESGVROP, the City of Azusa
& the Azusa Unified School District.
Broke Ground: October 26, 2001
Expected completion date: June 1, 2002
Description:
Figure No. 1
The front elevation is nearly complete with
only touch up painting and landscaping yet to
complete. Students have done all of the work,
except the brick work. A professional installed
the brick with students helping out.
Figure No. 2
Instructor Chuck Curran is showing a student
how to install the insulation properly. He is
demonstrating how to measure and cut the batts.
Students will complete all of the insulation
within a few days.

A student is installing the R-13 batt insulation
that is wedged between the studs and stapled.
R-30 insulation is being installed in the attic
as well. Following the insulation, the drywall
will be installed.
