GENERAL
INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS
1. Individuals hired by the East San Gabriel
Valley ROP must be lawfully authorized to
work in the United States. In accordance with
the Immigration Reform and Control Act of
1986, at the time of hire new employees must
provide: (1) original photo documentation
verifying their identity; and (2) original
documentation authorizing employment in this
country.
2. APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application forms
(available from the Personnel Office) and
related materials must be fully and correctly
completed and returned to the Personnel Office
no later than the deadline date indicated
on the front of the job bulletin. The information
you give will be reviewed and will be subject
to verification. Applicants will be notified
as to whether their application has been accepted
or rejected.
3. EXAMINATION: For some positions, applicants
must successfully complete each part of the
examination process in order to be considered
further. |

Persons invited to participate in the examination
process must bring with them some type of an identification
card bearing their photograph and signature.
4. TUBERCULOSIS OR CHEST X-RAY: Before being employed
and beginning work for this District, you will be
required to file evidence of having had a tuberculosis
Mantoux examination (Intradermal skin test) with
a negative result within the past 60 days. Medically
verified positive skin test results require a chest
x-ray.
5. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Fingerprinting: There is
a $ 42.00 fee for processing fingerpints at the
time you are hired. State law requires that all
employees be fingerprinted to check for or verify
conviction records. All candidates with a record
of convictions must so indicate on the application
form. A record of conviction will not automatically
disqualify you from employment, but failure to list
all convictions may result in disqualification or
dismissal.
Physical Examination: Some positions require a pre-employment
physical in which case employment is subject to
passing the examination.
6. PROBATIONARY PERIOD: New Classified employees,
except those hired onto the Leadership / Support
Personnel Salary Schedule, become permanent upon
successful completion of 6 months or 130 days of
service.
7. CERTIFICATED EMPLOYEES: All Certificated employees,
except those hired onto the Leadership / Support
Personnel Salary Schedule, are hired on a “hourly-as-needed”
basis. For those employees, employment is at the
mutual consent of the employee and the District.
Accordingly, either the employee or the District
can terminate the employment relationship at will,
at any time, with or without cause or advance notice.
8. LEADERSHIP / SUPPORT PERSONNEL: All Leadership
/ Support Personnel work at the discretion of the
Joint Board of Management. Employment is reviewed
annually.
9. BENEFITS: Health, Dental, Vision, & Life
insurance premiums are paid for employees who regularly
work 30 or more hours a week. A prorated amount
is paid by the ESGVROP for part-time employees who
work a minimum of 10 hours per week wishing to enroll.
10. Advanced placement on the Classified Salary
Schedule up to Step 3, or on the Certificated Salary
Schedule up to Step 5, may be allowed at the time
of initial employment. To be considered for advanced
placement, the prior qualifying employment must
have been full-time employment within the last seven
(7) years, must be completely disclosed in the application
paperwork and must be properly verified in writing
at the time of employment. This written verification
must be on official stationery of the prior employer
and must specifically state the position held, a
description of duties and the beginning and ending
dates of employment.
