On January 10, 2002 dignitaries gathered at the
site of our Azusa #4 house to officially break
ground on the unique partnership project. State
Senator Gloria Romero and State Assemblyman Edward
Chavez presented proclamations to the partners
on behalf of the State of California. About 70
people attended the event and were treated to
tours of the site by students in the program.
According to one visitor "I am amazed at how much
these students are learning. I wish I had had
an opportunity to learn these things when I was
young." The project is a unique blend of municipal,
school district and vocational training resources
to teach high school students and adults the vocations
associated with the construction industry.
