Margett Pathway Academy

The East San Gabriel Valley ROP/TC is contracted by Azusa, Baldwin Park, Covina Valley, Glendora, Walnut, and West Covina Unified School Districts to provide educational services to students who need an alternative educational environment. Students are either expelled from their district or are on involuntary transfer. In addition, some students have attendance issues, safety concerns due to gang involvement, social anxiety issues, pregnancy, and or difficulty learning in an environment with large populations.

The Margett Pathway Academy also offers a free lunch and breakfast program through the West Covina USD for those who qualify. All students are assessed including academic standing, learning modalities, personality and career planning. When students are referred from their school district, they are usually contracted to attend the school pending the completion of their rehabilitation plan. Some students are on probation, and have a probation officer. A number of students come from single parent households where one or more family members are incarcerated, or are in placement by the courts in local group or foster home. The Margett Pathway includes self contained classrooms where students are placed in small groups of 7 or less based on their academic ability. Class begins at 8am and ends at 2:30pm unless otherwise notified. Our curriculum involves project-based learning teaching Math, English, History, Science, Art, and Physical Education, as well as vocational classes offered here at the Del Norte Campus. Senior high school students are given the opportunity to complete their graduation requirements and graduate with the Margett Pathway Academy. Students who graduate can continue in the ESGVROP/TC post-secondary certificate or technical degree programs with the same individualized instructional approach they have been receiving through the Margett Pathways.
